Smarti-Pad. The Quick Learning List. The SmartPhonetic way to learning and literacy.

This is the Quick Learning List for your teacher, or helper to help you learn on line. They will point you to the words in EASY English! Or you can use this quick list yourself as it reads out each new word to spell. Simply look, listen and then you tap out and copy the letters on the Spell Pad to create your word map. The word map is how you will remember to spell and read next time.

If you want to be able to write in pen, as well as use the Smarti-Pad then you will need to print a copy of the EASY English pdf. Your helper or teacher will be able to talk you through each page. Learning is EASY! Once someone has pointed out the word you tap it out on to the Spell Pad, check it is correct by listening as you mouse over the word, and then tap it out three times to help it stick. The arrows will then help you picture the word in your mind and you can hear each letter then mouse over the whole word to see if you get it right.

Once you get confident and know where each letter of the alphabet is found then you can try any word you don’t know. New words can be copied and the Spell Pad will read it back. Remember there are only 5 arrows so you may need to ‘chunk’ a longer word. If you highlight a word on this page using Talklets it will say it for you and a ‘right click’ will give you a dictionary definition. For sentences use the Spell Pad for Texting.

EASY English! The Alphabet to get you started.
First you need to learn where each letter is. This is EASY!
A is by itself on 1. Tap out the letter A three times. Say A each time. A is a vowel. All words are built around vowels. Just like A, the letters E and I and O and U are vowels. These vowels are by themselves and coloured red. We have even made them sounded out in a female voice to be different to the consonants which are siad in a male voice. You can hear them as letters or phonetics by changing the setting on the Spell Pad.
Now for the rest of the letters.
B and C and D is on button number 2. These are consonants. Tap once for B. Tap twice for C. Tap three times for D.
E is by itself on 3.
F and G and H is on 4. Tap once for F and twice for G and three for H.
I is by itself on 5.
J and K and L on 6. Tap once for J and twice for K and three for L.
M and N on 7. Tap once for M and twice for N.
O is by itself on 8.
P and Q and R on 9. Tap once for P and twice for Q and three for R.
S and T on star. Tap once for S and twice for R.
U is on 0. Tap twice for U because one tap is the space bar as you use it more than U.
V and W and X and Y and Z on hash. Tap once for V and twice for W and three times for W and four and five for Y and Z.
Now go back and do it as many times as you can and see how fast you can get.
Try the vowels by themselves as you will use them a lot!

Now for the rest of the book. Don't try to go too fast. Click on each word to hear it spoken then ask your helper to show you how to spell it the first time to create a word map on the Spell pad.

Page 14. Three letter words with a consonant like c, plus a and t. C plus A plus T equals cat. Tap out three times bat, cat, fat, hat, mat, rat, Pat, sat and vat.
The sentence to try and write out. A cat in a hat ate a rat on a mat.
Page 16. The word that. Silly stuff to practice.
That cat sat at that mat. That bat at that rat. That hat at that vat.
The sentence to try and write out. That is a cat that ate a rat.
Page 18. A consonant plus the letter A and M. Tap out three times dam, ham, jam, Pam and Sam. I am Sam. I am Pam. I am Sam’s cat.
Page 20. A consonant plus the letter A and N. Tap out three times ban, can, Dan, fan, Jan, man, pan, ran, tan, van. That man Dan had a can in a van.
Page 22. The word than. Tap out than three times.
Page 24. A consonant plus the letter A plus a consonant. Tap out three times fab, gab, jab, lab and nab. Now try bag, gag, hag, jag, lag, rag, sag, tag and wag. A jab in the lab and that rat is mad.
Page 26. More three letter words with a in the middle. Tap out three times bap, (a bread roll), cap, gap, lap, map, nap, rap, sap, tap and zap. Now try the word has. He has a cat. She has a dog. Car, bar, far, jar, tar. Saw, jaw, law, paw, raw. I saw a cat. You saw a bat. The law saw nan in the car.

Part 2.

Now we have 4 and 5 letter words.

Page 30. The word and, and more words ending in and.
Tap out three times and, band, hand, land and sand. Dan and Jan had a band. The band played and he took her hand on the sand.
Page 32. Words ending in the letter S to make more than one of everything. Tap out three times bats, cats, hats, mats, cans, pans. But watch out for Pat’s. Pat’s ears and hande and hats and gloves.
Page 34. Time to add a double consonant to make new sounds. We can bang and bash out some new words like bang and bash. Tap out three times bang, fang, gang, hang, rang and sang. Tap out three times bank, dank, Hank, rank, sank, tank. Tap out three times cash, bash, dash, gash, hash, lash, mash, rash. Fang robbed a bank for the cash in a tank.
Page 36. More 4 letter words. More double consonants to make new sounds. Tap out three times flag, glad, drag, trap, slap, plat and crab. Brad the crab set a trap by the flag to grab at toes.
Page 38. Now for some 4 and 5 letter words ending in and. Tap out three times stand, bland, grand, strand. Now some girls names. Amanda, Mandy, Sandy, Wanda. Amanda the Panda spent a grand in the Strand.
Page 40. This is a word you will say a lot, it’s what. What a lot you will say what. Tap out three times what. Try these sentences. What sat at that mat? What was that Amanda sang? What a fat man. What can Jan and Dan bang? What’s that?
Page 42. This page shows you some punctuation. You will be able to use this on the e-mail pad.
Page 44. Here are 5 and 6 letter words. Tap out three times scrappy, flappy and happy. Scrappy the crocodile was a happy, clappy, chappy.

Part 3.
Now it is time to meet the rest of the vowels.

Page 48. It’s time to start practicing with the letter E using the word the.
Tap out three times these sentences. The hat that the cat ate. The man ran in the sand. The band and the cat sang. The cars are far. The flag and the grandstand are there. The happy man can stand.
And now some words with the word the inside them. I went to the theatre with the other brother.
Page 50. Now it is the turn of the letter I. Try to find in, is, it and if.
Tap out three times these sentences. This is the hat that the cat ate. This is the man that ran in the sand. This is the band and this man sang. This car is this far form that car. This flag and this grandstand are this far. This happy man can stand. I think I can wear pink and have dinner with him.
Page 54. Even more sentences using the letter U. Tap out three times us, bus, fuss and must. Tap out three times these sentences. Pat saw us. Mat got on the buse, Sam ran to meet us. What a fuss. You must trust us. This is a must. The bus must stop. What is that you have got? Trust us you must. A nun ate a bun upstairs on the bus.
Page 56 Even more sentences using the letter Y. Why is Y a vowel? Why not? When it sounds like an I is when you use the letter Y. Like the whord why? And when it sounds like and E you use the letter Y like the word silly. Tap out three times these sentences. Why did you cry? Try to dry and not cry. You can not fly if you try. Only you can try. Billy was silly. Bye bye said Billy. Why did silly Billy cry?

The Amazing Dolch List.
This is a list of just 220 words that make up over half of ordinary reading matter excluding proper names. To make it easy for you they are listed in the order that are most used in writing.
