Accessibility and usability on hand held devices is a very tall order when it comes to text input on smaller and smaller devices, but if it is possible, surely anything is better than the legacy 1950's based layout of 2ABC now used for mobile cell phone design with 26 letters crammed and jammed into 7 keys. Or, even dare it be said the QWERTY keyboard for Smartphones and Blackberry's, which turns the alphabet into an alpha-mess, the typewriter keyboard into a miniature maze for oversized fingers, and one finger typists making mistake after mistake with 26 keys jammed into a tiny space.

    Why can't millions of people - of all ages - spell?

    Simple answer.
    Spelling is a 'left brain' activity. It works with something called the 'phonological loop'.

    A left brain activity uses logic. Except spelling defies logic. 26, often random seeming letters, pulling together to make words, that often in English make little sense as to why or how they should work (like ph or gh making 'f'). And all this is not only illogical, it's made worse if you have any learning difficulty like dyslexia or are just a 'slow' learner!

    Now, the solution -

    Make spelling a 'right brain' activity. Make every word a picture - because a picture tells a thousand words!

    The experts call the 'right brain' called the 'sketch pad'. Why? Because it’s where we 'see' and make pictures in our minds. So, if you make every word a shape you can 'see', spelling occurs in a different place - in your right brain. Does it work for you? Try it. We think you will be astonished - no matter what age or ability level you have. Our research shows not only how fast the Smarti-Pad is compared to the standard 12 key pad, but how easily and quickly everyone 'gets the picture'!
